How to silence a cable slide

When i draw my compound bow, the cable slide makes noise as it slides along the cable guard. What is the best way to silience this. Thanks, Woody

If its a plastic slide get rid of it it will always make noise. On my bowtech I went from the plastic factory one to an Alpine mach 5 with a teflon insert and it helped speed the bow up some and it makes no noise.

Woody.................I had the same issue in the past, I purchased a teflon cable glide (think it was made by NAP, same folks that make string leetch, Academy has um).

It took care of most of it, I also have used bees wax on the bar itself.

My old bow had the same problem. I would put a dab of string wax on the bar and rub it in. This took care of the problem.

A drop of cooking oil does wonders for a lot of things on a bow. Plus, it does not have a bad odor to it.

I have used graphite and wax on mine. Each is a temporary fix. I am about to change the slide on my bow, hopefully stopping the noise altogether.

There is a powder that you can squirt on the cable slide that will fix it. It is graphite I believe, its black and slick anyway, and comes in a bottle like the blue powder for a chalk line. I works wonders.

The problem I have seen with string wax is the residue build up and that the cable slide "skips" a little bit.

                  Yep, string wax works great!

Unscented soap is a quick fix, also its kind of gross but if you are in the field, rub your finger on the side of your nose and get a little nose grease and rub it in. Works great to silence cable guards, arrow holders, etc....

Put the compound back in the closet and continue shooting the recurve!

True! Thanks for setting me straight. I haven't had to use it in a while.

It's also good for dissipating the foam on top of your beer. Now that's GROSS!

Actually, I love to shoot both. Last night i had both of them out for some practice. I love my Bob Lee recurve, but I will always love my Ben Pearson compound. I also love my rifles and loved shooting a nice doe with my rifle last year. I liked it almost as much as the doe i took with my bow. This year i want to take one with my recurve. These are all good ways to take a deer.
