...we went to our place this weekend and the grass burrs / spurs were ridiculous. Is there anything out there that will get rid of them? I assume Round-up?

I bet you have sandy soil. The best way to get rid of them is to lime heavily 2,000lbs per acre and fertilize heavily. Do this in the early spring. It won't kill them but they will go away for the season. Unfortunately this has to be done every year. This method has solved my problem. I hope this helps.

I had a friend once whose family owned a house on the beach at Gulf Shores. It was located next to a Public Beach Access and he found some sand spurs and transplanted them in the path. A little fertilizer each year and pretty soon that access was getting no traffic. I'll see if he needs some transplants.

We sell Hi-Yield or Fertilome products and this is what is recommended by them. Our customers have reported good luck with using the Dimension product in the EARLY spring....
Atrazine - Post Emergence product that is safe for St. Augustine and Centipede grass only.
Treflan - Pre-Emergence Product that is safe for most Cool and Warm Season grasses but has a short residual.
Weed Stopper Granules with Dimension - Pre-Emergence Product that is safe for most Cool and Warm Season grasses.
