Never seen "rice breast" in a shoveler. Several Mallards and teal, but never a shoveler...all from same body of water.

Never ate any with it, and wont.....

That's the only duck I've ever seen it in more than once....and several times at that hunting with my brother and other coastal boys.

Up here it was mostly mallards for us and I can only think of one instance.

*Most commonly observed in dabbling ducks: mallard, northern pintail, northern shoveler, teal, gadwall, American black duck.

          Sarcocystis

Not harmful to humans…I just don't know if I can get past the mental picture and thought of it.

I can't ....reminds me of maggots. I don't like duck enough to add maggot thoughts to the bite..

I'd have just thrown it in the ditch and went about my day. I shoot spoonies, they're day savers sometimes. Lol

Very much so. If cooked right, most people don't know what they're missing out on.

And by cooked right he means brined for three days or soaked in something for three days or wrapped in bacon and jalapeƱos with cream cheese. Basically anything to hide the flavor. Lol. And yes, I duck hunt, a lot. And I eat them as well.
