Extra Duck Over Limit Semi Hypothetical Question

I went duck hunting yesterday with my brother. I'm part of a lease with 7 properties and 42 hunters. You call in and the lease manager tells you where to go. Outside of our group I dont know any of the other hunters.

I met another group in the parking area and exchanged cordial greetings and found out where they were setting up. We had a decent morning and got 6 between the 2 of us. I only heard 2 volleys from their area. Got back to my truck and there is a spoonbill drake sitting on my tailgate and the other group is gone. I assume its the only duck they shot all day. I guess they thought they were being nice to give us another one. We shot enough times that we could have had 2 limits. There's no way they could have known how many ducks we got.

If you had shot your limit, get back to the truck and find an extra duck, what would you do?

Smiling mallard left for you = a joke
They didn't leave it as table fare.

What would I do? Chunk it and tell them it was the best duck I have ever eaten!!!

I'd prolly toss it and go home. I wouldn't create drama about it.

Yup, no sense in overthinking things that could get in the way of a good time.

            Carry on.

Put it on windshield and say he flew into truck. Spoonbills are stupid like that!

Hopefully he would believe your story even if you had your limits. If not at that point call lease manager to find out who those guys were and get a hold of them to confirm they left the duck. Have them come back, talk to game warden And chew them out a little bit

I've tried every way to make a spoonie taste good....nada! Only thing good on that guy is his feathers for making flies - in other words...toss it and go on cause it seems like they were trying to be nice.

gamewarden said to toss any extra birds. if the gw is already there well explain the story but whether he believes you or not is his call so be respectful and you may get lucky.

Do those count as a whole duck or do you get like a .5 or something?
