    Bullet necklace help

On 7-14-13, a close friend, partner, husband, and father was shot and killed in the line of duty on a SWAT callout. I was on the team and on scene with this officer and have been asked to make necklaces out of the duty ammunition left from his rifle (.223). I'm curious if any of y'all have any idea how to treat the brass and bullet to keep them from changing colors. This is obviously after I pull the bullet, pour the powder and remove primer. Any help is appreciated.

Do they make a clear cerakote? If so I bet that would be your best/easiest bet. Buy a cheap Wal-Mart toaster oven to bake it in. Don't know if they make clear or not, but then again doing colors might be cool as well. Just an idea.

So are you making annecklace out of the cartridge and bullet, or just the bullet? I think a necklace out of just the bullet would be cool...JMO

I really like the idea! As a fellow LEO I'd love it if some of my closest friends/brothers had something like that to remember me if I was to fall in the line of duty!!

My son made one back when he was 11 or 12 (6-7 years ago). He took a spent 9mm case with the primer dimpled and drilled a hole thru the case just under the rim. He put a .357 bullit in it and crimped it with pliers if I remember right. The chain is just the old ball chain like what was used on old tub stoppers.
He wears it every day, even to school, I'm not sure how he has gotten away with that but its easy to see its inert. It's never turned colors.

Thank you! I will be sending a pm tomorrow morning as I'm working now! If this doesn't work I'll see about some cerakote or something. I am going to try and make it with bullet and case without the primer and powder. I may just leave a spent primer in it and empty powder and drill a hole in the brass.

You might also consider having the brass engraved.

Can't help on the sealer but the only one I have ever seen was a single cartridge that hung done and appeared to be attached through the primer hole.

You could put a good crimp on the bullet and drill your hole through the bullet. On second thought, probably not safe if the person wearing it were to fall. Scratch that idea.
