On 7-14-13, a close friend, partner, husband, and father was shot and killed in the line of duty on a SWAT callout. I was on the team and on scene with this officer and have been asked to make necklaces out of the duty ammunition left from his rifle (.223). I'm curious if any of y'all have any idea how to treat the brass and bullet to keep them from changing colors. This is obviously after I pull the bullet, pour the powder and remove primer. Any help is appreciated.

So are you making annecklace out of the cartridge and bullet, or just the bullet? I think a necklace out of just the bullet would be cool...JMO
I really like the idea! As a fellow LEO I'd love it if some of my closest friends/brothers had something like that to remember me if I was to fall in the line of duty!!

My son made one back when he was 11 or 12 (6-7 years ago). He took a spent 9mm case with the primer dimpled and drilled a hole thru the case just under the rim. He put a .357 bullit in it and crimped it with pliers if I remember right. The chain is just the old ball chain like what was used on old tub stoppers.
He wears it every day, even to school, I'm not sure how he has gotten away with that but its easy to see its inert. It's never turned colors.
