    Dodge front end

Have an 08 dodge 4wd megacab, 285/17 cooper at tires about a year old. Replaced steering stabilizer, all 4 shocks, avs hubs, regular alignment and rotations. Truck rides like log wagon bed bumpity bump on freeway at 70 mph. Been back to shop several times, tire front end guy says that is a dodge because it has a straight axle front end, he just bought same model pickup about 6 months ago. Anybody got ideas how to improve ride? Need Green screen knowledge, Thanks!

Bring it to us at 4 wheel parts on 1960. Shake it down and see what's going

I got a '04 4x4 with 247k on it and I just change out the upper and lower control arms along with the trac bar. Also changed out the steering linkage with upgraded dodge parts. It rides like new again. Only thing left is the wheel bearings. My ball joints were fine since they got changed out from all the rock jumping years ago.

I'm a front end guy in Houston, yes dodge has a straight axle which mean the caster can not be changed. Which means if the truck pulls then you move front tires from left to right (if all front end parts are in good shape.) Also you can't change the camber which has to deal with inner and outter tire wear. The definition of all of this is welcome to dodge world! There rough and made to get the crap beat out of them. If you want comfort buy a Chevrolet. Good luck. P.s.

It will be a rougher ride with the straight axle. I have the same truck.

What shocks did you put on it?

                  X2 on shocks
spending a little extra on some good shocks make a world of difference. I have the same truck it rode smooth until I put the lift on it, even with 6" lift tho it doesn't beat you to death. X 2 on the ball joints too. and control arm bushings

Simple thing to check is tire pressure, it can have some effect. Brand/tread of tires as well.

                      Dodge front end

There is no way to fix the ride on a 3/4 ton dodge. How do I know you may ask? I own a 2008 dodge mega cab 6.7 4x4 and had a 2006 mega cab 4x4. My brother drives a 2007.5 3/4 4x4 dodge andy mom drives a 2006 dodge 3/4 ton.

I have a high end 8 inch lift on my truck with brand new bilstein 5100's and it still bucks me around like a steel wheel wagon lol! I thought it may be my lift so I drove my brothers truck last week with a leveling kit and brand new bilstein 5100's. Guess what when you hit a big bump it dam near hurts.

After that I test drove a new 2013 on Saturday crew cab 6.7 3/4 ton 4x4 and while me wife was driving and I was in the back seat I noticed when we hit a bump how rough it was.

If you want a better ride my advice is get a caddy

Now if you are having a steering or death wobble problem there are fixes for that.

The only fix may be to look at getting new springs front and rear but that would cost thousands for a quality set up like Carli or pure performance.

Well I should have asked this before I typed my response, but is it a smooth freeway? If so play with your tire pressure. If it's bumps, dips or bigger separation in the concrete then that's just the way it rides.

My truck get squirmy past 80 but it's big. 65 to 70 my truck rides well on good roads. Bad roads here in La I can barely keep it on the road.

Got a 2012 2500, roughest ride ever. My old Z71, now that's a comfy ride. But pullin a trailer getting 6mpg going to Colorado no worky. Hook any trailer up to my Dodge 2500, fuel mileage never creeps below 13, and the power is crazy.. Did I mention its rough, oh and the AC during the summer is horrible till the trucks been runnen at least 5 minutes.
                          rant over, Love my Dodge, and my expandable mirrors for the ghost trailer.:-}

Black Ice pretty much nailed it.... 3/4 tons have stiffer suspensions to haul more. Dodges have the solid front axle so they are a little stiffer than something with independent.. unless you're willing to pay the big bucks and over haul the whole suspension with carli or air suspension then good shocks and tires are going to be the best to make the biggest difference.
