I don't really understand this one? Just asking. If a buck is 18+ or even 20+ and not black why can't he be shot if he is a mature animal? This buck may never be black..............

I had a friend that shot one that straight taped at 21 inches on another ranch that had absolutlely no black in it.

He said all black. When they reach maturity, they are all black.

Mature bucks typically turn "black" at 3 yrs of age, I believe.... (dont quote me on that)
