Ever pass on a buck ?

Ever pass on a buck to kick yourself
later. I passed a 7 pointer 2 days ago at 24 yards. Perfect long tines on his left, crab claw 2 in his right. 16-17 spread. I was hoping to see a different deer and an older one. Now I'm kicking myself.

Yes. Saw the biggest buck I had ever seen(10 point, 20" spread) I was just about to pull the trigger when another buck came out(12pt, 17.5" spread) with thick/high rack. I couldn't decide which one to shoot, then I thought maybe I will see one even bigger. As I was still trying to decide what to do they both took off, and I sat there for half an hour wondering what I was thinking.

But....after 30 min they both came back. I shot the tall racked buck(same deer in my avitar). My father in law shot the other one two weeks later. Moral of the story, you may get a second chance

Passed on an 8pt on the refuge, 1st day of the hunt, wide and really tall. Another hunter shot him the next day, scored 122".

We live on the edge of town inside city limits right next door to my parents. Bow hunting is legal but rifle isn't. My mom made me promise I wouldn't shoot any of her deer that she feeds across the street in a wooded lot. I was over there about daybreak looking for a hog with my bow when a nice, fairly heavy bodied 8 point came strolling up. I sat watching him as he passed broadside about 15 yards away from me. Promise kept.

I passed on this guy at 76 yards broadside with my .308. I passed on him because he was the biggest deer I had seen this year and wanted to see what he may look like next year. After looking at the pics and thinking about it I should have shot him.

I was hunting a freinds place in llano a few years ago and had a nice mature 8 come out that was in the mid 130s. nice buck but this place has produced much much better so i let him walk. it was my first sit of the weekend there. The next day he got a phone call that nobody was allowed to hunt the rest of the year and ended up losing the place so the landowner could have it to HER self. I was pretty mad at myself, but thats the way it goes....

Only reason I've ever let a buck walk was because, he didn't meet the standards set by the ranch.
In Hawaii? They take a dirt nap !!!

I like your style. Nothing has killed my love for deer hunting like passing on dozens of really good deer waiting for that rare monster.

Many times. Only to find out the neighbors shot em anyways. Some just don't care bout game management.
