Been hunting since I was 7 with my grandpa, enjoy the time out in the woods, let's you get away from everything, and for the thrill of getting you a nice trophy buck and some tasty back straps
I hunt because it gives me an adrenaline rush and ensuing sense of satisfaction that cannot be replicated by anything else in this world. Whether that is a big 8 point stepping out or whistling wings over my decoys. I also feel closest to maker when I am removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The outdoors is my church.
I couldn't have said it any better. But I will add to this. It's imbedded in me from my dad and my grandfathers. It's another way for me to provide for my family. It's another way for me to spend time with my family and teach my kids. It's the best way for me to get closer to my Heavenly Father.
I could write a book about why I hunt but it comes down to three things for me- Food, family and fun. Deer season is the only time I get to spend any real time with my dad and little brother anymore so it's not so much about killing for me it's more about family time.
I hunt because it is perfect. God made men stewards of the world, and all things within it. Hunting allows me to maintain what God has given me while giving me a thrill that is second to none. No drug can come close to the sensation I get when I draw back on an animal, regardless of the species, and I believe that through hunting and eating what you kill you obtain the ultimate high. Also, the discipline it takes to pattern an animal, set up in his living room, walk into my set up, and take my trophy has taught me some valuable lessons in persistence. These are just a couple reasons, and if I listed them all I could truly write a book
I hunt because my eyes are set in the front of my head like all predators. I hunt to eat and for the thrill of the chase. I hunt because its my heritage, my history, my connection to the past and future. I hunt because God created me....a hunter.
For the last 15 seconds before the shot. Its in our blood as a man to hunt. Before HEB it was you don't hunt, you don't eat. Main reason i don't buy meat. I hunt. :-)
Because Scuba sucks around Fort Worth and there is nowhere to snow ski near.
You can only dive in a rock quarry so many times. I agree.... I worked at Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah through high school and a couple years after. I got that out of my system.
I enjoy watching the animals in their own environment, the feel of a cold breeze on my face. I love cold mornings in the stand. The adrenaline rush when I decide to fling an arrow at an animal is something not easily duplicated. Being alone, just taking it all in. And....the meat. That's my favorite part.
