It will be well worth your time to pattern your gun. Put a modified choke in, staple a piece of butcher paper to a pallet and shoot it at 30 yards. If it looks like there are big gaps in the pattern try a different choke. If you have the same issue try a different brand.

The reason you get so many different answers is because every gun shoots a different brand better or worse. I found that when I patterned my gun, the xperts were better than black cloud and remington hi speeds. I only tried 3 brands but there was a noticeable difference. Kent would be another good brand to look at because its cheap and supposed to be more uniform than experts. I just dont have anywhere to get it.

Kent or Xperts for me. I hunt too much to be buying rich man shells.

B.S., we cant afford to shoot a large volume of overpriced shells. Most of my crew orders the cheap Kent Fast steels by the case. I shoot em too when Im not rolling my own. Ill shoot 12 gauge 3" #4's 3's or 2's. Whatever the situation calls for on shot size. If there are lots of teal Ill open up the pattern a little with an IC choke, if not I shoot a mod choke. If I need power Im shooting shells I loaded in 10 gauge. If Im running low on shells and go to wally world and get xperts they kill the ducks just fine. Get em over the decoys and any shell will work as long as you do your part.

I shoot Kents or Federals. I agree with most here, go with a good choke and the cost of the shells do not mater too much. Just be aware of the fps. If you are used to shooting 1250 for dove and you go with a FastSteel (1550) you will notice!!

Grandpa musta bought you a couple cases of shells and you forgot how to clean a gun.

Don't they teach gun cleaning in school??

RIO Blue Steel is a very reasonably priced shell. I have had good luck with these the last 3 years.

Right there. I personally shoot experts and kill birds dead. All that fancy dancy high dollar ammo is not needed if your decoying birds like its meant to be done. Get em feet down over the decoys. I guided waterfowl hunts for many years, seen tens of thousands of winchester experts shot and kill birds. Kents are pretty good too. I kill truckloads of geese with expert double b's every year. They simply.. work

Seems like I remember telling you that exact same thing a few years ago. Still haven't learned your lesson?
