relocating to Dallas... where to live

Just accepted a position working in Dallas, currently live in Austin, so I am looking for decent neighborhoods to rent a home in.

Location of the job is around 75 and 12. I am fairly used to short commutes, but prefer a good place to live. I get some temp housing for a while and assistance with finding a place, but thoughts are appreciated.

Lake Highlands is perfect for you. Or a tad south around Whiterock Lake

spent last summer in McKinney working, absolutely loved it there. A short commute from Dallas, affordable housing, good bass fishing, and good places to hunt nearby

Thanks for the information so far.

my current commute is 14 minutes and about 10 miles. I dont want an hour.

What is the traffic pattern like? I usually like to get into the office around 9, that might make a difference in where I can live.

I rented a nice little house near Skillman and Mockingbird for a reasonable price (I think $1300) back in law school. That's a nice area.

Lots of apartments in the area on Southwest. Would be a 5 minute commute.

I moved from the Kyle/Buda area to the Lake Highlands area about two years ago and recommend it. Not sure if you have any kiddos or not, but if your are north of 12 aka NW Highway, and east of Greenville,(rough approximation) that puts you into Richardson ISD rather than Dallas ISD.

                        Dont move to Dallas.

                        Soulless city imo.

                        Good Luck

If you want 15 minutes you better live in the building you work in. Just saying.

just giving the idea that I was used to. I know we cant have it all, which is why i would like to live in a decent place vs a 2 min walk. I would prefer not to have a 2 hr commute though.

no apartment if I can get away with it .. have a wife and two dogs. Need some space to let the dogs play.
