The heck with Dallas. Forney or Crandall it would be about a 30 minute drive from Crandall.

I would move into Richardson and avoid the Dallas taxes, city of Dallas even has a personal property tax on autos and boats and DISD is a train wreck. If deadset on Dallas then as others have said, Lake Highlands area but in RISD. I just left Frisco, been there since 97, for the quiet life way north. Drive from Frisco to where you are would be a nightmare.
Richardson, for houses look in "The Reservation" or "Canyon Creek". Both easy to shoot straight down Coit to your work and nice areas with larger lawns. Also easy to get to the Whiterock trail for biking, jogging, etc...

I am all for being north of the metromess but the commute going that far in could be hell. I drive 55 miles from north to get into richardson and to that point is not bad. From there south on 75 always looks to be a mess at that 9 am hour.

I live inbetween Greenville ave and White Rock Lake and love it but you pay a lot for houses there. M Streets, Lakewood, Lake Highlands are all cool places to consider.
Richardson is a better deal but I love being close to the lake, good music and downtown.
Dallas is not as cool as Fort Worth but honestly, it's just Fort Worth on steroids. There is no city in Texas I'd rather live in.
