    Another snake ID thread

Pretty sure it's just a little rat snake but wanted to see what the experts say.
He's little and the wife noticed him crawling up the door frame of the mud room on the back porch next to where my 6month old plays in his bouncer

Before they all crucify me, if it had been in the yard I wouldn't have thought anything about it. Being it chose this location a couple feet from where my son plays was what led to his untimely death

were you afraid it was going to eat your child ?

it would have been a much better teaching moment for your child instead of teaching him fear a harmless critter...

I see it this way...you either kill the snake...you get a new wife...or put your house up for sale. i know the special lady in my life would not go for having a snake that close to where the little ones are playing.

Hard to teach a kid in a bouncer an important life lesson like that. Maybe a 5 yr old kid, but the kid in the bouncer? Come on now.

A great man once said " If it rattles, it is a rattlesnake. If it doesn't, it is a Cobra."
I still live by this today.

Thank you for the support. Eat no, possibly make its way under the bouncer and become irritated and strike my son as he plays yes. And I'm certainly not at my peak performance at 530 in the morning walking out the door to go to work. The last thing on my mind was could I teach my 6month old what kind of snake this is and how it benefits our house by having it around.
