I would consider both of us in that pic avid outdoorsmen, just very careless outdoorsmen at that moment. I've hunted - and been in the outdoors - my whole life and have only encountered a rattlesnake in close quarters twice. Unfortunately, it only takes once for it to be a fatal mistake.

Alot has come up this year... 4 week old baby changed my hunting plans just a tad ... I had to let go of that place in Hall county. 4.5 hours, one way, is just a touch to far away for momma .

Bout to have my first Rifle set this weekend, and move a few blinds to new place we picked up in october (kinda late ).

Yall still up there with the big boys? Got any TC pics to make me regret leaving ?

Wish I could say we were, but not in Hall Co. any longer. Like you mentioned, 5hr drive one way and the fact the family was pushing hard to sell the property made it tough to invest more time and money in that property. I am sure missing that country up there though. We're in Lampasas Co. this year. Good deer, but not quite Panhandle potential...that I've seen yet anyhow. Good luck and keep me in the loop on your season.

Lol at pics. Be careful and be smart! You are right. It takes one careless moment to be hit with rattler. Thanks for the laugh this morning. Needed that. Lol

After that sequence of events, I didn't even want to be close to a dead snake. Ha! We did cut the rattle off to keep however. I think it had 8 or 9 if I remember correctly.
