Regarding the "get it in writing." I've read a few stories where some guys leasing the place didn't want to ask the landowner for something in writing because they didn't want to be insulting to the landowner. This is what I would say to that and it might get you something simple in writing (I've seen some complicated lease agreements!) Just tell the landowner that if a Game Warden happens to stop by, that you would like to have written proof that you are allowed to hunt there. That GWs sometimes makes routine checks, etc and that since you are an ethical hunter that abides with all state rules and regulations, that you would just like to have a simple one page lease agreement to be able to present to them if the need were to arise.
