Didn't want to hijack another thread on here so I thought I would start a new one. This void issue has probably been discussed before but I have to ask those of you who keep refering to "the void", where exactly do you think this void exist?

Found this old post, via google not the search functionThis pretty well sums it up, it is possible to hit above the spine and have a nonlethal hit but there is not void between the lungs and spine.

The white spot just below the green line is the spinal chord. It's lower than most people think.
There is no void between the lungs and the vertebrae. But there is a large area above the spinal chord that will make a loud "thwack" as the spinal process is broken. It's the same thickness as a rib and sounds identical when you shoot through it.
If the green line represented an arrow, you would hear one heck of a "thwack," but the deer would survive.

I guess one would say the "void" is the area above the backbone
