When I hunt public land I see most of my deer between 10 and 2. Like someone else posted many (not all) hunters head back to camp around 9ish and head back in around 2ish. I sometimes set up in areas where I think deer will run when spooked by other hunters headed to and from camp.
When I was growing up, we had a lease in NW florida and the majority of our biggest bucks were all killed between 10 and 2.

I know our place it seems like prime time is between 11 and 2.

When the rut is on and the does are hitting the feeder then it's time to follow the lunar tables. Killed my buck three years ago at 1pm. He followed a doe in to hand corn

Tried multiple times last season to sit all day. Never saw much til feeders went off. No I wasn't just hunting feeders, I sit in between 2 50 ace wheat fields with a 5 acre tank and woods all around. Ended up shooting at 8:30 a.m. Sometimes mother nature is just being difficult!!

If you hunt over a feeder in Texas chances are very good you will be wasting your time hunting mid day.

Now, for areas where you are hunting over natural browse, trails, funnels, etc there is some
merit to mid day movement. Feeder deer are accustomed to eating on a feeder schedule, especially in areas with limited natural browse.

I have run trail cameras off of feeders the last couple of years and even to see activity away from the feeders during mid day is the exception, not the norm at least on our property.

I agree with Mike. And I'll add that most mature bucks move mid-day because they sit early and late knowing that's when us hunters are in the field. Esp. during a full moon.

I've shot several good bucks mid-day (between 10 and 1) and my trail cams confirm this, with the last three really good bucks I've captured on them, all coming around noon.

I don't trophy hunt, but if I did, I'd probably only sit from 9 to about 2.
