Tell me about deer and how they react to trains

My current lease has a busy train track for it's southern border. I've noticed the deer seem pretty used to having frieght trains rumble by. They don't seem to pay much mind.
What is your experience with deer and how they react to train traffic? Do you see deer cross tracks with regularity? Do they travel along the tracks?
I like having a train go buy because it gives me an opportunity to move around a bit and make some noise. It's a built in distraction. What say you?

We have one that is on the south end of our lease, but we also back up to a power plant. The deer seem to be adapted to the noises overall. The do look up when the train cars bump as they start and stop, but they never seemed really spooked.

My place is about 1/2 mile from a major railroad. Deer never even look up when trains pass by.

I can see the train trestle from my stand. The deer must be adapted to it because it does not seem to bother them at all. They just keep eating at the feeder and don't seem scared by it.

I can stay home and hear trains, I don't think I would get on a lease if there were trains comming through

I used to hunt on the Esoconditlo Ranch in south Tx. It was next to a Navy bombing range. Whenever the planes came in for a run, every 10-15 min, they would just freeze for a second then go about their business. Excellent time to gain ground on a stalk or shoot.

Deer gets used to things. I would assume ALL of your deer grew up by that track and it is just a normal part of their daily lives.

Yes deer will cross the tracks without question. I also see deer feeding right next to the tracks all the time on the way to my lease. There is a big field close to my lease that has trains going though it all the time and the deer out there don't even pay any attention when the train comes through and some of the deer are less then 100 yards away. I have seen a few deer that were right by the tracks when a train came through and they just moved out to about 100 yards and went on feeding while the train was passing.

Deer will adapt to most constants.

I like your idea about moving with the train noise.

This is my 3rd lease in a row that has been bordered by tracks. Ten years now. I'm just curious what others have exoerienced with deer and trains.
Oh, and I can't hear trains at home!
