My Dad's #1 Bucket List Item - Elk Hunt as Live as We can Be

Maybe some of you elk hunters can set me straight, my dad is two days into a five day hunt and has not seen an elk. Is this odd for a paid outfitter/guide? He's having a good time but I'm getting more irritated with each report. Heard one Elk bugle and that is it. Hopefully, it will turn on. I know it is called hunting but...

Yep, it's called hunting BUT that is a bit strange. Not even a cow elk huh?

Sorry - the sightings were by the one other hunter in camp. No sir, not even a cow.

Big goose egg again today - no sightings, no sounds. I got a little frustrated and texted the outfitter. He said the elk have just disappeared, either cows all bred or bulls just exhausted which doesn't make it any better because he pushed my dad's original date two weeks. Don't mean to sound negative, they are still having a good time, trying to keep the faith. Two days left.

Man that is frustrating not even seeing one!

I remember my dad went elk hunting in Colorado, and he saw tons of them the day before the season started, and then opening day, no more elk.

I've heard that as well, there one day gone the next - maybe the inverse will happen LOL. They had a film crew in last week, maybe too much pressure. I told him to go get a picture with Tiffany, at least he would be able to bring something back! Apologize for the negativity, still a great gesture by Tex_Cattleman and they are enjoying the views - more MOJO!

one year when I lived in Wyoming I had been watching a herd with several nice bulls most of the summer. you could almost set your watch by them. when opening day came I never saw another elk for 2 weeks sorry for the negative but the joy should be in the journey, atleast thats what I kept tellin myself but as I found in other years it can change in a heartbeat so heres to some positive results today

Well, got a little better today, dad saw a few mule deer and turkey on the ranch and then a few elk way off on neighboring ranch. Still nothing close. Guess they are feeling bad - Mom has been stuck at camp but they offered to take her up with them this evening. She excited to see the mountain.
