Well - big goose egg. just off the phone with my dad. I'll not go into details but
I feel obligated to tell all TBHrs - Do Not Use this Outfitter!
Whats the name of the outfitter?
Stories like this are exactly what scares me to death about getting a guided elk hunt. You know the (the great, good and bad) outfitters all say the exact same things to get you to spend your money with them. No way to know though.
LoneStar Outfitters - long story short, the guy has came onto hard times and is in a bind. Lost 7,500 of his 10,000 acre lease and has been hunting the remaining 2,500 since opening day - so you can imagine why the elk left. My dad had a 20 yr old guide who had never guided, the cook couldn't cook, paid an additional $500 for my mom to go because of the modern cabins on the website. They ended up in a connex with no water or electricity and she basically did the cooking. They did kill a few elk two weeks prior when my dad was supposed to go. He and the other hunter were both donation hunts that were auctioned off - both mysteriously got bumped to later in the season.
