It has never been the camo on the hunter, but the Hunter in the camo that gets the game.

Hunting the edges of Urban Areas...the wind is not as much a factor, especially if there is a bordering ranch house\farm house or something as well as gas\oil operations. It all depends on the region...some areas are full of human and vehicle traffic smells\odors as well as livestock. Cow pies...grab a bag of that and dump that down wind of your stand....it covers very well. Stomp in a few cow pies on the way into the blind, works fine in areas that are mixed livestock and hunting.

I'm not too concerned with wind, it's easy enough to conceal your location using local plants to do so. Prickly pear, smashed pear leaves or cedar....this covers the south and hills quickly. Out east, there is plenty of pine...a few needles crushed and or fresh cut pine will cover a human pretty easily.

Cover scent stuff.....it may work but I prefer natural scents. My camo goes into sealed Tupperware containers mixed with an aromatic vegetation type, for the region I'm hunting. My camo then smells of a natural scent odor as it's pulled on.

Movement....yes this is very important. Camo will help conceal your movement and if you read the wind and watch the grass and branches\leaves flow at distance, you can get away with movement that mimics the same movement speeds..if you need to move. It's best to setup in small, narrow shooting lanes with brush on all sides, limited wide fields of view but deadly for the archer who can view through the broken branches and vegetation to see game as it works into the shooting lane.

There's some state parks where the deer are so used to people they will walk right up to you and eat outta your hand. I went on a hunt at a high fenced ranch (with "exotics") and the you could pet the elk (how is that hunting?)(we were hunting hogs). I also saw a Bow Hunt Or Die episode where they were hunting buffalo, and they pretty much just walked up to it and shot it. I didnt see all the other work that was put into it, but it looked pretty easy.

I wouldnt count camo out yet.
Growing up in Louisiana way back in the day and skipping school way to much my senior year (already had my scholarship sewed up) to go deer hunt, there were a lot of times I would just wear a dark colored shirt and jeans to hunt for a couple of hours before heading to 2nd period. Saw deer and even killed a few dressed that way. And this was way beeped feeders, trail cams, scent sprays and pop up blinds. Oh and was hunting with my trusty Bear recurve and broadheads.

A whitetail will smell you WAY before he sees you.

Don't matter what you wear if you stink to the deer. Always hunt the wind.

I will spin it a different way. I scent free wash my gear and hang it in a cedar tree, then transport it in bags. If i have "special" clothes to do this too, why not buy camo ones? Then I am giving myself every advantage. Oh yeah, black shirt and hat for the popup. They all hang in a tree for months.

Also, the pros hunt every day and who knows where and what they are hunting as far as fair chase. As recreational hunters you may only get ONE shot at that buck of a lifetime and you better have all the odds in your favor. You have fun with all that hunting in smelly street clothes. Not me.

I hunt in jeans and a shirt. There's nothing wrong with camo, I just don't wear it much anymore and I haven't had a problem

Maybe the deer don't see me as a threat cause it's all those guys in camo doing the shooting

Oh, I'm a scent freak these days. But just saying, you could probably kill a deer naked if you did everything right. Now with that said, if I was in the camo business, you bet I would be trying to talk you into everything.

It is an interesting article that makes me want to go buy Predator or ASAT camo...I'd have to kick my own butt if I wore the Hawaiian shirt.

I think ibs shot 1 deer with a rifle in camo and one bow hunting. I never wear camo hardly when I'm rifle hunting. Unless that's just what I pull out that day. I've killed way more deer without it that's for sure.

Now duck hunting is a totally different story.

"old man never wore camo!" Ever notice how skinny old man was!

Please wear it or not wear it you can kill an animal but as for me and my suit "we be chasing old big boy out der in dem East Texas woods where seldom a spotlight works!"

I have several camo "outfits" and pretty much stick to them when out on the lease - I do believe that the camo pattern helps conceal movement on a tripod with the added benefit of scent-lock...plus I don't worry about getting blood/dirt, etc on my camo.
