Trying to decide what would be a smoother Dove Gun.looking at a 12 or 20Ga. Benelli Legacy
Anyone own or have owned a Benelli Legacy,if so i does it handle
I love the 20 gauge but Im an over and under guy. I have a 20 ga Montefeltro I have never shot. When I switched to a 20 ga my success rate in the field actually improved a few percentage points.
This evening was day nine out of ten that I have done hunted. Just me, but I don't care one bit for a 20 gauge. I want more lead in the air. If I want to be sporty, I pull out e break over .410.
My "fit like a glove" gun is a Rem 11-87 Sportsman. Did me well for 23 years until stolen last Thursday. Until replaced, I'm shooting a borrowed Benelli M2. Not a fan at all.
Its really hard for me to imagine myself out there without my trusty Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge. Its simple and been killing everything from dove to hogs since 1974.
The Legacy's are nice guns. Had a 12 & 20 at one time. I liked the 12 best, because to me the 20 was too light & it made for a whippy gun. The 12 was much smoother swinging. IMO or for me, if I was only going to have 1 gun it would be a 12 ga. You can always buy lighter loads for the 12 if you want less recoil or to match 20 ga loads.
If I am going out to kill birds, I grab the 12 gauge mossberg pump. If I am going out and plan on being a little more sporty and just enjoying being out of the house I grab the single shot 20 gauge.
