The only time I've driven without a front plate is after stopping at Prasek's Hillje Smokehouse. I got pulled over in Victoria, didn't have a front or rear plate. There were several vehicles stopped at Prasek's, each towing two or three used cars to Mexico.

Even if it were legal to drive without a front plate it wouldn't be worth the trouble it would cause. Police like front plates, makes their job easier.

One day plates will have bar-codes. And police units will be equipped with bar-code readers that can read them in passing.

They already have scanners in cars that when you drive by, it automatically will run your plates. There is a bar code on the stixker that goes on the windshield that they can scan.

2 plates. When I worked police, stopping someone for 1 plate was just a reason to stop them, not really to right a ticket. After I quit police work to go back in the Army I was stopped by a Trooper driving my sisters car w/front plate in the windshield, in 09 and he just gave me a warning.
