2 of the yildiz ou's in this thread have had the exact same problem. Not all people have had this problem granted.. But that doesn't mean the problem isn't any less real, could happen to you in the future, or worry some.
Yildiz has a problem somewhere in their line, if not all the time it's atleast sporadic. And deserves attention.
Regardless of how you feel about paying more or less for a shotgun there is a problem... Which could have very easily cost 2 TBH members their hands the fact remains these 2 blew up... Through no fault of the owners as many have stated their extractors stick occasionally too.
I'm un sure why people need to defend their shotties when 2 of these were obviously defective... And could have resulted in permanent injury.
I'm sure you guys that bought the yildiz knew there were better guns out there but decided on yildiz because of the price point. But what you didn't know is that there was a chance this less expensive shotgun might blow up on you... You do now though
Take the information and now be informed. So in the off chance as yours gets older if it blows in half you can atleast say "I knew it was a possibility" if it never blows in half more power to you.. But atleast you've been informed of the possibility. However, if it does blow up on you I bet you would cuss it and call it way worse than junk... Especially if you lost an eye, hand, arm..
What is the country of manufacture of these Yildiz shotguns?...forget about it...I just looked it up. Turkey. Either substandard materials were used, poor design or there is no quality control. Glad everyone is OK.
A link I found on this shotgun.
I bet I could find two instances of Benellis, Rugers, Brownings, actually... ANY manufacturer with catastrophic failures... anything mass produced is subject to issues.
Unless you own a Gun with a serial number in the double digits and there were only 20 made...chances are ..someone else has had an issue with that model gun.
To condemn an entire manufacturer over it is irresponsible and ludicrous.
Thanks coach I couldn't have put it better myself. I apologize if I have offended anyone by my post as that was not my intention. I only intended to inform the owners and potential owners of these shotguns of the risk of this happening. Like said in my original post my brother in laws gun that this happened to. He informed me today that his representative spoke with yildiz and the gun would have to be sent back to the manufacturer in turkey for repairs, and could take up to a year to get back because of difficulties that the country is going through.(I didn't get those details.) At the very least it was a $425 mistake that could have cost him more than we care to imagine.

I understand what you are saying. Broad statement about most anything is generally not fair. The major manufacturers have way better quality control over their products and do all they can to stop things like that ever from happening. But ask yourself this...
How come there are not more guns made in Turkey?
How come folks do NOT rely on a Turkish made pistols for self defense?
Tell me one thing good that has come out of Turkey? Beside those funny hats? or our F15's bombing Haji's.
LMAO at the folks saying don't buy this shotgun or that shotgun because they are defective or have had problems. If we boycotted all of them with an issue, we'd be flinging lead with slingshots. All gun manufacturers have mechanical issues. If you chose not to buy one that is fine but I can guarantee you that the one you "change to" to get away from your current defective gun will have had a similar dangerous happenings in their stable of guns. It happens...The irony is hilarious though.

EXACTLY, 2 cases are not enough to justify calling the other hundreds of thousands of shotguns junk.
I can find several instances of glocks exploding in peoples hands, but I post that up and all the glock owners would be up in arms. Heck do a google search on remington 700 trigger defect/failure several links posted up on the internet concerning this issue. You know if I post up a remington 700 junk thread everyone and their dogs would be up in arms about their 2000 dollar pieces of "junk".

Just a thought.
You are trying to make an example of many using only a few, two in this case. That is like saying all Fords are bad because some (small percentage) broke down. I am glad he was not hurt, but mechanical things break, we should expect it from all products in small percentages.

There are a ton of guns made in Turkey. Every heard of Berreta or Benelli just to name two.

You would have to show me that sir. I do not believe. Unless you have your countries mixed up a bit.
My Berettas are all made in Italy , with one handgun made in USA.
i have the 20 gauge side by side and love it. i did have to take it to briley to have the trigger reset worked on when i first got it but its been solid ever since.

Bull shi... Im not trying to make an example of many... I'm just stating what has been said in this thread.
2 of these shotguns have blown apart. Let me dumb it down a bit: they could go boom good or boom bad, You have been warned.
I dont care what you buy... but this is a documented problem with the yildiz and mono bloc shotguns... Even if it doesn't happen very often you still need to ask yourself do you feel lucky? : http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_1/379...em___Pics.html
It's a monobloc.. Barrel separation can occur (as others have stated they've seen other mono blocs come apart as well) There's stories of berretas, Brownings... doing the same thing... The difference is one is 400 bucks and the other is 4000 bucks...
So you must ask yourself why is one worth the extra zero? Quality parts, Methods, metals, and inspection. The cheaper the firearm the more corners are cut... The corners I suspect that were cut with the yildiz making this problem:
Insufficient solder holding the barrels together
Tolerances between barrel and bloc where too great and the solder couldn't hold them together forever.
Both of which are a quality control issue that without being dealt with will rear its ugly head again..
Or the use of cheaper softer steel, unrealiable solder, loctite. Etc... allowed the problem to occur.
At any rate it's a great gun for 400 bones... But through its design, country of manufacture, and price point it has the possibility of being a 2 piece.
You've been warned. No one is saying the Whole line is defective... Just these 2 now 3 are.... Are there more? Most definitely... Will yours be next? Who knows? Probably not... But you never know.
I also don't feel anybody is telling you to boycott them... Just a matter of fact that these particular shotties failed and the owners, rightfully so, are ******.
This entire thread is Just a heads up to others from what happened first hand to members here.
Why is it that people that buy inexpensive guns are always so up in your face telling you how great they are? You rarely see that from the Cosmi, beretta, Fabbri, browning, Krieghoff, Blaser, Perazzi, etc, owners.

I see it from Beretta and Browning folks all the time.... I don't play on the sites with those other fancy guns are popular so I couldn't tell you about them
