? About snake dens

Some friends of ours have a den rattlers around their front porch.

They filled the hole with concrete.

Do snake dens generally have 2 or more openings? Seems most den species usually have multiple entrance/exits.

Depends on the terrain. If it is rocky, there might be more than one hole.

Wrong time of year. Snakes won't be returning to den locations until it starts cooling off at night.

burn the house down. simple as that.

To find all holes:

Light Railroad Flare.

Put Railroad Flare in snake hole.

Cover hole.

Smoke from flare will come out of ground at other exits.

Be prepared for angry snakes.

Or try Mothballs in hole.

Man....Typically snakes will occupy an existing hole created by another animal. Most snakes cant dig very well (no arms or legs!)

Thanks for the railroad flare idea. I've lost two of the finest dogs that I ever owned to snake bites, and my buudy's is at vet now with bite. We give vaccines, but a big snake is bad medicine. Even snake proofing dogs hasn't worked. Keep a snake bite kit with banadryl, prednizone, and injectable dex. Saved several dogs, but not the ones that I cared about the most.
