    Dove Advice for Newbies

This Sunday marks my first excursion into dove hunting. I've shot skeet and bow/rifle hunted deer & hogs so far with some light varmint hunting as well but this is my first time shooting at the feathers!
Any advice, tips or tricks to help my learning curve? I will be hunting with seasoned vets to look after me but greatly appreciate the help here!

    Thx

        Plug your gun.

Shoot one bird at a time. Try to shoot two or three at a time and you won't find half of them.

My wife is going with us this year for her first time as well. She's shot skeet but never the real deal. Just gotta pay attention, those birds seem to come out of nowhere sometimes!

          Have fun & good luck!

Some skeet shooting practice at Ft Worth gun club helps. They let non-members shoot three times before having to join.

Since its your first time take a case of shells lol!

Just feel out the lead don't try to tie in the appropriate lead for skeet with dove.
Once u start shooting u will get the feel for it.

Keep your head down on the gun and swing!!!!!! Follow through is prolly the most important next to safety.

Bring Plenty of shells.... Enjoy Yourself and Be safe... Bring you a chair or bucket But when they are coming in hard in heavy you will find yourself Fetching birds rather than sitting... I also like to Have a couple cold ones on hand to help with any thirst you may have... Good Luck!!! I will be blasting on sunday as Well!!! West Texas Holiday

Spend a little extra money on quality ammo. Your sucsess rate will go way up.

You need to be in a place where the birds are #1. Going just any place in the outdoors rarely works. There are no magic decoys or secrets that make them appear.

If you are in a good field or at a good water tank, you will get your opportunities. If you can hit a skeet you have a good chance at a dove. When in doubt, bring lots of shells and keep pulling the trigger till she is empty.

Be grateful if you shoot 1 in 7

Sit with your back to the sun. Shoot each bird individually, don't flock shoot (if you get flocks where your hunting).
