You tough guys aren't going to let a few hippies scare you off now are you?
Me and the wife are about to head to Barton Springs, then a good dinner and off to the roller derby. Life is good.

Definitely get some funny looks.
Two buckets filled with empty deer corn bags and burlap toe sacks work great!
Of course before long the bleeding heart libtard tree huggers in Austin will demand the toe sacks be converted to flax or hemp!

I was born and raised in Oregon where unfortunately they have been doing that in a lot of places for quite a while now. They call things like the bag ban "progress." Which is precisely why I will not move back to a state that has considerably better places to go outdoors, has a more manageable climate and has much better public hunting and fishing opportunities. (And a draw system that's online like most of the West. But that is another rant for another day.)
At least in TX you have a lot of area to balance out all the crap happening in Austin. When DFW, San Antone and Houston all start to vote more blue...and I can see it happening in the not so distant future...then Texas may have a real problem on its hands.
Unfortunately, Portland and the rest of the valley makes the decisions for the rest of Oregon. Look up the election results from 2008...If Multnomah County (downtown Portland) didn't go blue at an almost 80% rate and if Marion County (Salem), Lane County (home to the U of O) and Benton County (home to OSU) didn't all go blue by such huge margins, things would have been very close.
Don't think it can't happen to Texas...because it can. ///end politics rant///

Yes I get the need to be environmentally friendly. We use reusable shopping bags on just about every trip to the store.
My problem is when politicians force this type of initiative on the public. It starts with plastic bags, then they have mandatory recycling, then limit you to tiny curbside trash cans, finally they start auditing your trash cans to make sure that you are sorting your recyclables properly. If you don't believe me take a trip to San Fran.
