I would get the 8k with those choices.

I haven't decided yet. ;-) I keep going back and forth but I am leaning toward the big one. I figure it might come in handy if my mini split in the main room goes out. I still have a couple weeks to decide. Any more input is welcome.

By the way... the condensation will drain into a big utility sink right below the unit. At least that is what i have planned.

I guess I am in the minority but I just hate over sized equipment. I get that it, isn't that much more money, but what do you gain? The room will cool down faster, that is about the only advantage I see. You are not trying to make it a walk in cooler.

Agreed on the bigger one. Cools down quicker and on those super hot 105 deg days it won't stay on as long all day.....win win for a little more money.

I am installing a 24000 btu unit today at our place in Paris. 12 x 55 tornado magnet that we have had on the place forever. Had central air at one time till a coil leak. Put a 12000 in there and it was just ok. That one bit the dust and now I have the 24000 that is going in. I will let you know how it works. I know its not the same since my place is like a 55 foot hallway, but I am a fan of bigger is better.

I ended up ordering the 10,000 btu one. Thanks for all the input.

Please don't track me down and whoop me, but the 6,000 btu model (option 3)was $40 cheaper.

                            Any insite appreciated.

Like I overheard my Grandfather tell the guy at the hardware store one time. " I need an ac with enough B T U's to cool a B U T the size of a T U B"......

                              Get the bigger one.
