Where to find Lumber for Skids

Where can I find or get a lumber for skids?

After my blind comes down, I am going to add a skids underneath for easy transport around the lease, if it needs to be moved around.

What fasteners do skids use? Lag bolts?

    Thanks!

If I were using them for that purpose, I believe I'd have to go with 3" or 4" pipe. Just add some angle iron brackets for attachment purposes and bevel and cap the ends.

Steel? Why? How would I attach steel to wood and steel/wood don't mix.

Landscape timbers and slab the end off at an angle with a chainsaw. Big deck screws will work

          There's this place called Lowe's.....

It could be done with either pipe or landscape timbers as already suggested.

Find a local rough-cut mill to cut to any spec you need.

Check home depot lumber department for their cull lumber bin/rack. I bought the whole rack the other day for some projects at the lease for $45. Some had a small crack on the end of 16' board, some was slightly warped, etc Retail it was about $300 worth of lumber

Just put 2 axles on that house so you can move it easily...

                    Y'all in ribbing mood?

Of course I know where the lumber yards are!

The one I've seen on sheds and other things are much bigger, more stout. Looks about 6x6 but its different kind of lumber that I've never seen at most lumber store. That's why I asked!

                    Thanks to all Captain Obvious!

Treated landscape timbers would work, cut a 45 degree angle on the ends so it will not dig in while pulling.

Right. I've seen all skids with that for that reason. Many thanks. Much appreciated.

I guess I'll get few for my blind after it is taken down this Saturday.

                            Most lumber yards carry 4x4s, 4x6s, 6x6s.

The one I see on sheds doesn't look like its treated. Cedar costs way too much money. It looks like almost a railroad ties. Kinda. That's why I asked.

I could use treated. I worry that it may disintegrate in short time. I guess I will find out.
