This is true. Axis are grazers and WT eat forbs and browse, but we protein feed year round. Trail cam pics suggest the Axis consume a lot more protein than WT. I truly believe our WT antler development suffer because of the Axis. It is hard to manage a low fence, small acreage place.

We've never seen them fight, but a WT will not stand his ground when an axis wants to push him off a feeder. Having said that Axis do taste better. My favorite game meat for sure.

Why would you want WT when you have trophy axis? Axis taste sooo much better.

Take one eat it and when you need to restock your freezer just taker another one. No season nor tags needed.

The Axis will push the Whitetail off the corn feeders. I've seen it a few times at our place with young Axis even pushing off older whitetail or ones the same age.

Those axis do love the protein. I like the axis I like how they taste but I love the pursuit of a whitetail. I

Here are some pics from the place Jason and I are hunting.

The first pic is one we call Pretty Boy. Out of all the bucks he is the most typical framed when you think of axis bucks.

The second and third pics, we call Wide Mutha for obvious reasons.

The fourth, fifth and sixth pics are our for sure hit list.

Fourth we believe is Slick Rick but it is not a very good pic. We have a pic of him in velvet and not having any coddle tines.

Fifth is Devil because the first pic we got of him he was staring dead straight into the camera and he was not happy.

Last is Crabclaw and out of all these I think he will score the highest

Check the last pic out. Picture of whitetail fawns but one is real light colored. What yall think?

Not a bad problem to have. Hope you catch up to some of those axis, which doesnt look like it will be too hard. But yes, too many axis in one place will take over and push your whitetail out.

You are not going to see them in hard horn for much longer if you are looking to take one out...and that big one is the boss daddy!...second from the bottom. He is an older axis and has some pretty thick antlers. Cheers!

I had a place just north of boerne ( sisterdale ) area. Lots of free range axis there. 300 acres. Tc pics showed the whitetail quick to move out when the axis came into the scene.

On stand saw the same thing -- but, at least they both got their share at my place. Both were nice to have when it came to season for WT. Whatever cloven hoof was getting a carbon injection no matter the flavor ! - c
