Yeah, all those guys can play "a whole lotta notes real fast." I tend to focus more on the musical elements, instead of the virtuosity. As Jimmie Vaughan said, "it's not the notes you play that count, it's the ones you don't play." That's why I'd rather listen to him than his brother any day. SRV bores the crap out of me, although I realize that's not "politically correct."
Incidentally, in his genre, and I'll probably get some eggs for this, John Denver was a superb guitarist.
no good answers because too many deviations of talent...I work from home and have to drown out sponge bob and a teenager yelling at an xbox during the summer.
Pandora has been a God send!! I have been recently listening to the accoustic guitar station & a little blue grass while getting through emails and pc work.
I'm glad several listed Alex from RUSH and I know they are a love/hate band, but how those 3 guys could put out so much music for so long is insane. The best drummer thread would be way shorter.
I think the lyrics in Entre Nous can tell more about how different we are in what we like than what I can put into words...La Villa is in a class of it's own.

I have no real favorite axe picker but give kuddos to Rhodes, Clapton, Knopfler, Jimi, SRV, page, santana and even the bumb dumb riffs from zz-top and ac/dc make me smile. I'll kick myself for missing other favorites. Lots of talent out there & funny to hear those say some suck, while others have them as best.
I can get in the mood with most any music & there was nothing like being in mex and having a good mix of big hats plunk away and nylon and yell. When in Rome.
The only thing I consider noise polution is rap...I have to leave the building. I simply cannot stand it.
I'm also not into the music a lot you and others like Bob really appreciate. Slayer is too over the top for me and older metallica was about as tough as i could dig, but it won't make me leave the room.
