    apply for the lost title through the mail and pay the 12$ fee for lookup and paperwork on their end, and the title is sent to the new address. you will not be able to go to a regional facility to get the title issued then and there unless you are the owner.
    last time i sent in for a lost title by mail i had to provide a copy of my drivers license with the form.

      Complete Form VTR-34, Application for a Certified Copy of Title.
      Enclose a copy of the owner's valid photo ID and $2 mail-in fee by check, cashier's check or money order payable to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. An agent of the owner or lienholder must also provide a letter of signature authority on original letterhead, a business card or a copy of the agent's employee ID.
      I'm in the same boat with a motorcycle I acquired after it was abandoned at a rental property. Guess I'll have to look into the bonded title route.

        good info I lost the title to my 71 ss el camino my dad helped me buy in high school back in 79
