A family member has a Chevy 2500 that has been sitting in a field for at least 5 years. He got it as payment for some work but was not given the title. It does not work and he said I can have it if I can make it run. Is there any way I can get a title for it salvage or some other type to make it drivable on the street?

Potentially free vehicle, no title?

Just got a 89' 2500 that was sitting four yrs. i got it for a ranch truck. I had to replace fuel tank and fuel pump-mainly due to varnish, it was bad shape. I had to replace the radiator and now that I am driving it, one brake line popped. Alternator bearing is squealing at times, so I am sure thats next.
Things to think about and price.

Once that is done, file the proper change of title paperwork and easy as pie. NOT a big deal. no notary or bonded title needed.

I got a bonded title in the mail in under two months. And it cost me less than $300 i think it only cost me 200. I then sold the car for $ 1000.
A bonded title is the easiest way to get ownership of a vehicle and your protected if the original owner showes up out of the blue. After 3 years it is no longer bonded and no one but you (the title holder) has any right to the car.

I would think you would have to show I.D. or something proving you are the one listed as the owner in their records.
apply for the lost title through the mail and pay the 12$ fee for lookup and paperwork on their end, and the title is sent to the new address. you will not be able to go to a regional facility to get the title issued then and there unless you are the owner.
