On a tip from Dale, I took apart my old Foreverlast cage, and used one of the panels for a door. You can bend it around the barrel to get the shape right. Works great.

Also, if you cut a door in the side of the cage....cut the wire to the inside of the opening, and bent the "tail" back. This takes away the little cut ends around the opening....they will shred your arms otherwise.

Great idea. Those stiffer doors sure make it easier to clasp too.

I used the side of a squirrel live trap in the junk pile for this square cage's door. I made it for a buddy who had a square plate to mount to and didn't want to do the 55 gallon lid deal. It has held up really well just like the round ones...

Ha! I was wondering if someone would comment on that fine piece of blind architecture in the background. It's nickname is "The Killin' Box" and it was made entirely of discarded cedar fence panels. (I was once asked if I got the idea from visiting shanty towns on the Rio Grande) I recently had to raise the roof 6" so there would be enough headroom for shooting my longbow. Makes the thing look even junkier but it works!
