Day 4 – The night before (after that great river day) Capt. Rob gave us the option of going back to the river for the non-stop catch and release, or going back out for more freezer filler. We chose the freezer filler.

But before we could do that, we needed to go pull the shrimp pots to see what our catch was today. We started working the ropes and holy cow…the basket was so heavy with shrimp, we had to call Rob down for help to get it up on the boat…and that was just the first pot….3 more to go.

A huge sun star had attached it self to the side of the basket and we got to see it up close. Very interesting sea creatures!!!

We were very excited to see how many spot prawns we had to clean. This meant one thing…we were bringing shrimp home!!!

After cleaning the shrimp, we had a GREAT lunch of caprece salad, shrimp salad, fresh crab cakes and warm bread. There is absolutely nothing better than eating food so fresh from the sea!

Capt. Rob took us to our next fishing spot. We started out fishing deep for yellow eye (also brought up quill backs here), and then moved over to the shallower water for salmon. I’m think we were all so busy fishing none of us got pics during all this (or I haven't found them in the tons of images I have), but we do have the results pic

It had started out as a sunny and very warm day, and we were all supporting Classic Alaska Charters in his t-shirts/caps. By the end of the afternoon, and out on the open waters….it became a little chilly and we had to break out the jackets.

Dinner was another super great meal. Ling cod fish and shrimp taco bar with a side of chips and salsa. Ina had put out various taco makings and we made out own tacos. YUM-MY!!!

Day 5 (the last day) held some major excitement as the biggest fish of the trip was brought up. Working on that one now.

This is clearly not a fishing trip.
      This is a catching trip.

      Y'all gonna need a bigger cooler(s).

Day 5 – We woke up to an oatmeal breakfast bar and were determined to make the best of this last day. But secretly, I think we were all trying to figure out how to make the Saltery C immobile for just a few more days. None of us were ready to come back! The weather was spectacular for this week and the fishing was over the top.

We knew we had to be back at the dock around 4 so we needed to get out there and finish our double daily limits that we could bring home. And since it was the last day…Deb got busy on some Bloody Mary’s to keep us from being too depressed about the end of our journey.

We started out and had the pinks in short order along with a few cohos…then moved to deeper water to target those halibut and yellow eye. We caught fish here and there

and then….low and behold, Lindy has a huge bite. I reeled my line up to give her room and keep from having tangled lines on what we could tell was such a good fish. I ran in to get the Go Pro and got it going. Lindy was looking like she was wearing out fast

and made a comment that she may hand the rod over to someone else. I told her that was NOT happening; this was probably a bucket list fish and started helping her push the heavy rod up as she reeled each time.

I started snapping pics and made sure the GoPro was in place. Not sure how long it took to get him up, but the entire time we were cheering her on and were all excited to see what she would eventually bring to the surface.

Wow....what a fish! Nice, HUGE halibut

Unfortunately, this fish was not in the keeper slot. Capt. Rob estimated he weighed 95 # and it was all Lindy could do to not jump in and hold the fish before the release

After congratulating Lindy on such a great catch (biggest of the trip), Capt. Rob told us we were getting close to having to go back in.

We drop out lines and ask for just a little longer. More fish brought in and then Capt. Rob told us we had to leave. We asked (ok...begged for one more pass). I'm pretty sure this was the last fish caught...

I still need to work on the Go Pro videos....and there are so many other pics on my computer that have documented this great week, but I think you all can tell...it was an over the top great time.

I didn't know Angie from other than the site and had only really seen her in person a couple times (not getting to talk much). Deb and Lindy I only knew from the emails we shared for 2 years while waiting on this trip to happen. After spending the week with them, I can say I love these girls....and certainly think we will be life long friends. Heck...we have even booked the same week for 2015.

And the countdown begins until we are back on the Saltery C catching fish, eating the best of food and spending time with great friends!

Mary: your skills and ability to document the daily events and pair with just the perfect photo are out of this world. A god-given talent for sure. You have a great gift of sharing Thank you for capturing the fishing trip of my lifetime I words and pictures for all to share.

I don't think that if we had worked hard for many months pondering on who to put together as a group of four , that could have lived on a boat in close quarters for a week ---- we could have found a more perfect gaggle of hens.

Honored to have shared each day and memory with Mary, Lindy and Deb. As you stated we shared a bond on those Alaskan waters and rivers never to be forgotten.

I am thankful The Lord watched over each of us on our journey and travel and blessed us with being a part of the beauty only he can paint.

Thank you to all for coming along the journey and for all your kind and supportive comments.

Without meeting Mary at texas trophy hunters extravaganza in Fort Worth due to TBH this would have never happened.

Again, this site and group of people who make up the green screen family never stop keeping me in awwww of the fact there are still such good people and so many located right here.

            Thanks....and love ya Tigga

****If anyone is wondering why Capt. Rob stands in front of us in a lot of the pics with that big smile....he has on video sunglasses and captured a LOT of film. No telling how much of it is silliness, because we sure gave him some of that as well...LOL

I'm hoping he gets some free time to share more of his pics and possibly some of the video. Quite sure some of it will be priceless
