It's a money making racquet. They write the tickets you pay the fine. That's how it works. It's your word (person judge doesn't know) vs. money generator for the city/county/state (judge knows well).
I had a judge tell me regardless if i was guilty or not you will always pay the fine on my court.

If you fight it--one thing I would do is go to where the officer was when you stopped and them made the turn and take photos of someone in your vehicle doing what you did, to be sure he could or could not see if you stopped at the white line before making the turn on red. If he couldn't see the white line, be hard for a judge/JP to find you guilty -- reasonable doubt.

Did the intersection possibly have a no turn on red sign?
I did pull out ahead of the dump truck, but he didn't have to yield. in anycase, he didn't issue a failure to yield he issued a failure to stop at a redlight

Generally the judge is going to side with the LEO. Nobody ever thinks they deserved the ticket.
The people are much better off with the judge rendering the verdict and fine. From my experience, the local city juries are ruthless. It probably depends on where you are but I have seen juries just slam people for hundreds of dollars in fines (multiple citations).
That jury might be the people that complain about speeding through their neighborhood, running stop signs, etc.

Fight it and lose, you will pay double or triple the ticket in fines and court costs. Trial by jury is touchy. People who get picked are gonna be p!$$3@ they got called in for jury duty in a chicken €#!£ court. Now u gotta convince 6 people (with a bad additude) u were in the right.
Plea no contest, ask for differed adjudication, pay the fine. If you dont get a ticket in 3 months, the ticket comes off your record. Thats gonna be much cheaper than taking the risk of paying fines, court costs and a moving violation on your driving record.
Or, u could fight it! Either way, good luck.

you might want to rethink the situation... did you stop or just slow way down... the one tip off they use is to watch the wheels... when your at a stop sign or light watch the wheels on a car to see if they really stop or just slow down... watch and you will see what i mean... but if you know your right, never bend over ..never..

If that's the case, I don't see how the cop could've seen the red light intersection at all then. If he was a few hundred yards away after traveling toward it for a few seconds, he would've easily been 1/2 mile or further away when the OP allegedly ran the stop light. Unless he was using binoculars, it would be pretty hard to tell if someone came to a complete stop from that far away, IMO.

My son got a ticket last month for no seatbelt and I know he wears it all the time. He said the sun was in the cops face and there was no way he could have seen either way. He is going to fight it and he said if he loses, he is gonna tell the judge he will do the time, lol. He is way too much like me. How long could he possibly be in jail for a seatbelt.
