Anyone add a 2nd AC to their camper?

Ours is in the shop now getting some warranty work done and we are having them add a 13,500 BTU unit to the back bedroom. They are going to run it through the ducting but not on the thermostat. We will have a 2nd power cord on the outside but it will only be a 15A. Any problems I should be looking for?

You will need at least a 20 amp breaker to help with start up surge. Also you might have problems connecting to the duct work. It probably will not handle the output of both airs and will tend to freeze up

Nevermind the duct work on the bedroom AC, just let it blow out the front and back like the old ones.....they worked better anyway.

Ducted AC in travel trailers seems to take away a lot of the effectiveness of the unit.

My boss put a 3rd one on their camper in the toy hauler room that has an outside cord like yours that runs to a 30 amp plug. He also let it cool old style with no ducts.

Walmart window units baby ! $89 and keeps my 36-footer nice and chilly even when it's 100+ outside. The roof unit just doesn't keep up when it get's that hot outside.

Right. Usually the campsites have 1 30,1 50, and 2 15's I'll have my camper in the 30 and my 2nd ac in one of the 15's. Right now I have one vent closed off and two others partially closed because of lack of cool air pressure. I had it checked at the dealership and they said it was working fine, it's just too big for one ac. It's at Terry Vauhn in Alvin.

I think it has the dump feature, I will use that.

I was going to say. if you go with a ducted system, make sure you get the "Air Dump" system

There ya go! That "dump" thing will move some air. Dad has a 36' Montana Mountaneer that came with one unit. Didn't take him long to have them put another in the bedroom. He leaves the dump open on the main unit till bedtime then ducts it so the bunks get some wind.

We bought a self contained unit that I use with my dads. It captures water and all- looks like little porcelain heater but is ac. Just vent to exhaust out window. Can put in bedroom or living or or use here at home when power is out

I run cord out window I'm venting out and plug directly into park extra plug so not tripping camper breaker

I like these a lot more than I like window units. A lot more versatile

I used a free standing unit when I had mine. It would keep the living area comfortable during the heat of the day. The back was never a problem.

We bought a new toy hauler about a month ago and just had the third A/C (roof) installed in the garage a week ago. Took it out over the weekend and I was amazed at the difference. The third A/C is wired with a separate plug on the outside that I plugged into the 15 amp power pole at the RV park (20 amp breaker on the inside). We used a 12 gauge extension cord from the RV to the pole. Three A/C's running kept the RV at 72 degrees all weekend. It's 45 feet, with high ceilings, so I was pleasantly surprised. They were able to add a thermostat for us so the kids don't mess with the controls, but it is not connected to any duct system. I'll probably look at sealing off the ducted vents into the garage so they push even more air into the living area. Well worth the additional investment IMO.
