well I've carried P226 for over six years with no complaints. It's a little large for my hand, but the new grips we can get to replace the original grips help. I also had a short trigger reset put on mine by a department sig armorer. They are accurate and mine has yet to fail me, even when put through the paces.
I am a 1911 guy.
I love it for the thumb safety.
Have carried it since 1991.
I am secure, confident, and Familiar w it.
Last qual I used my glock 22 .40 cal and it shot GREAT.
However, I am so used to the security of the 1911 in condition 1 w the thumb safety that I struggle to carry the Glock concealed.
Years of mental security will not allow me to change.
I have become a huge SIG fan and believe they are outstanding weapons.
But I do not like change.
It comes down to your mindset.
What are you the MOST COMFORTABLE WITH.
(Same old - Ford,Dodge,Chevy debate that goes on for vehicles)
Between Glock and Sig, I believe it comes down to personal preference (both firearms have been reliable). I carried a Sig .40 (229 Elite) on duty for about 5 years. However, after I got a little bit more training and made some changes to my grip, etc. I switched to Glock. Reason being, lower bore axis and trigger (Da/Sa vs. Striker Fired). I also prefer Glock's finish to Sig's for duty use in high humidity environments.
You didn't specify which caliber you were interested in, but i can tell you that if you want to save money DON'T BUY THE 357 SIG! It's expensive as heck to shoot and the ammo is hard to find as well. I love the cartridge and I shoot it ALOT for IDPA, but finding brass is getting kinda hard and when it's nart hard it's downright expensive.
Again, like one other poster stated it all comes down to personal preference.
I'm actually gonna buy an STI Spartan 5.0 at the end of the year for my IDPA interests.
Not LEO. Just a guy who likes to shoot. Bought a P229 in back in '99. 357Sig. Loved shooting it in .357. Also bought a .40 barrel. Actually preferred the .357. My follow up shots were much quicker than with .40. After that I bought an aftermarket 9mm barrel mainly for fun and to save $$. Even better. Getting ready to get new sights.
I love the 229. Had a 226 years before and it was just too big for my hands. I'll never sell it. Its heavier than my tupperware guns but there's just nothing like it.
