Its time for me to buy a new duty weapon. I have carried a Glock, but I am thinking about switching to the SIG P226. Last time I checked these two agencies are assigned the Sig. Any opinions or information on how they are working out with your department?

I'm retired DPS...
and carry a Sig 226 DAK in 357 Sig as my concealed carry as well as using it in IDPA. I've had the P220, P226 and the P226 DAK. I'll take a P226 over anything else any day of the week. Except maybe something full auto!
To my knowledge there have been no issues with the P226. You pull the trigger it goes BANG!

I carry a Glock because I'm most familiar with my Glock 22. I've tried to carry a sig, a 1911, and a Springfield XDM but keep going back to my ole faithful Glock. Why is it time for a new duty weapon?Last edited by LuBowhunter; 06-25-2013, 05:04 PM.

Shot my buddys 226 DAK in 40 the other day.. I thought the gun was, meh, decent. My biggest gripe, is itbseemed like the snap was magnified in the sig compared to a g22. And if a 40 is snappy, I couldn't imagine the 357sig. Ive shot just about every handgun brand out there and nothing compares to the controlability of my m&p.. just my .02.

I work for a small dept near Ft Worth and we can carry whatever we want. Most have a Glock 22 or 17, Springfield XD's, with one Kimber TLE and one H&K. I carried a G22 for 5 years and I've now switched to the 17 in 9mm. More capacity and way easier follow up shots. Go watch some police shootout vids on YouTube. It's at least 5-7 (or more) VERY fast shots or an all out magazine dump and they are usually over very quickly. The faster and more accurate I can shoot, the better.
We had a female officer that carried a Sig 229 about 3 years ago and that is one sick gun IMO. The weight tames that .40 kick and I shot it much better than the G22 I carried at the time. Cost of a new holster ($160) and the gun ($850ish) lead me to stay with what I had.
We just went to the range today and this is how I shot. This is with timed reloads and using a standard qualification sheet (50 rounds total). Again, a 9mm Gen 4 Glock 17. This isn't bad at all considering everything.

I have had both a 226 in 9, 40 and with the 357sig conversion and a 220. I prefered the 220 over the 226 due to the grip size on the 226. Preference now is the Glock platforms or the M&P platform.
