if your young and in shape do the physical hunts now. run down the caribou, elk, moose, shoot, goats, etc. while you can.

there is plenty of time for you to sit in a blind or over a water hole and launch arrows at black bear, whitetail, exotics, etc.

          Hey JT,

I would take a hard look at the Jicarilla Apache Reservation.

They have great bulls from 6-8 k at around 80% success.

They have world class mule deer, but they are at world class prices.

Download hunting proclamation PDF under the hunting tab for more info & prices.

I haven't checked into them for years for obvious reasons but if I was your age and in great shape I'd seriously look into a horseback pack in hunt for elk or moose or a fly-in drop camp for spot and stalk bear...

I've done the horseback pack-in for elk and that was a great experience... and I've done a couple of fly-in drop camps which were even better, although they were for fishing...

                    Budget 7000$ +- a little

You can hunt two different specie of Chamios in the mountains of France for right at that cost. I think all in for 1 species it was $3800 plus airfare and it would be an additional $1500-2000 for another species.

A Kyrgyzstan Ibex hunt is a bit more than that, but not too much.

A Azerbaijan Tur Hunt costs that much plus the cost of airfare... total around $8800 when I was researching. (I am doing this in 2014)

If you want to do Africa, I have a lead on a Burkina Faso Roan and plainsgame hunt for about that price.

Forget whitetail. You can hunt those when you are 90. Come join the Indiana Jones style of hunting, you wont look back.

I am planning on caribou for next year so that's my pick.

Whatever you decide if you need an extra hit me up if the hunt is not already in my plans I may be interested.

I personally wouldn't pay to shoot a whitetail, be it in texas, canadian, kansas or illiniois.
Sheep will be 13-14k for a Dall. Forget Desert, Bighorn or Stones for less than 20k

You're dead right about the whitetail

                        1) No Labrador caribou, they shut down hunting them 2 years ago. The Quebec tags will reduced to 1 in 2014. The Quebec/ Labrador herd is hurting
                        2) Tough draw, only place for otc tags is a very very small area in BC and it's expensive because the guys that can't draw go there.
                        3) Woodland tags are severely reduced but if you want one you better jump on it and it's about 7k. Plus you can whack a moose and bear cheap. This may be a good idea but the woodland bou will still be tough

I sit in a treestand overlooking a bait pile in saskatchewan in 10 below and shoot a 160" whitetail....whats the difference?
A 350# fat azz can pull that hunt off. I think he's wanting something a guy that eats cheese burgers, drinks cooking oil, smokes 3 packs a day and uses an oxygen bottle isn't capable of doing

David and Tammera know a guy that knows this place very well. Ask them for Tim Mariner's number, he's a great guy and has hunted there a ton. He's said this place is awesome and has been hunting there since I hunted with him in the late 80's (dang, I'm old)

I have never seen one for in his price range. I have see some cheaper (relatively speaking) but I can't find enough info on the outfitter other than some guy saying "these guys are good". Quality yukon moose with reputitive outfitters tend to be costly from what I've found and I've been looking

Now you're talking. Go on a fall hunt and add a bou. Temps range 20-50 instead of the sub zero in the spring hunts

I didin't know chamois where that cheap.

I hunted with a guy who had been all over the world hunting. Some of his hunts in spain, the czech repubic, morrocco, iran.....were simply incredible.

If I had a large budget to spend hunting I don't think i would stay stateside very long, I would chase about every wild sheep my budget would allow

This is a deal for sure! The outfitter I used in Kyrgyzstan is the local guy in France (Seladang). He uses this guy as his US booking agent.

X2 on sheep hunting. It's too much $$ so I settled on Goats and other Capra species.

Keeping in mind your limited budget of 7+k, I would seriously consider staying the states for your hunt.

The way I look at it, I would want to spend the bulk of my money on HUNTING, not traveling & transport.

Sure you can fly halfway across the planet, and in doing so eat up half your budget in the process.

Then the prep & transporting of your trophies back to the states is going to eat up another third of your cash.

With a hunt like the New Mexico JAR hunt I mentioned, you can load your gear in your truck and in 12 hours you can be on the hunting grounds.

And for a very modest price within you budget you could be driving back to Texas with a bull like this in the back of your truck.
