This is BS. Anybody that cheats the system affects all that pay taxes. I'm not say that guy is cheating the system but I know there are plenty that do.

As a tax payer it IS my business. Complacency gets us what we have now.

My guess is if the truck/van/SUV has farm tags then you can also use it as a "right off" if you do have ag or farm exemptions. If it isn't registered as farm use then you can't do it. I don't know too much about farm and ag exemptions but this is my understanding.

Well show me how this vehicle affects you. Do you pay registration in the county where that vehicle is registered? Complacency, hmm, putting a photo of a license plate on TBH and screaming foul is fighting complacency?? If you know for a fact, and you want to be that guy that goes around and reports everything you see, by all means go be that guy. What got us where we are, is having people like you believe that what other people do is their business, and they need to monitor every move they make. So Mike D, go run for office or become a cop and fight these evil farm tag people. Better yet go move to California and help monitor gun ownership. Or even better, keep your nose out of other peoples affairs, if you see a crime committed, by all means go report it. You must be the President of your HOA, huh. Please don't think that I am trying to come off rude, just trying to understand your logic. If i knew how to put a smiley face I would. :0)

I have no experience with the farm tag regulations. So if you have a ranch and hogs are tearing your land, crops or livestock up, isn't having a stand to hunt out of a legitimate price of equipment? I do get what you're saying as far as a person getting a ticket hauling say a long travel RZR or something that is obviously a toy more so than work equipment. But even then, does the law specify what the equipment had to be equipped with or anything in that regard? Granted know one needs a long travel, Turbo, 4 seater RZR, but if I was a rich rancher/farmer, I would have one just because it would be fun to work out of rather than a mule or ranger. If I had a stock tank large enough to put a fishing boat in I would as well. You know to rescue calfs that were drowning. Just from what I have read on here it seems the law is very vague except for "Don't drive you vehicle with farm tags to work".

You can still write off the mileage/expenses regardless of how it's tagged.
Farm tagged only saves you on the registration costs. I have 2 trucks, 1 is farm-tagged, 1 is not. I use and write off farm-related expenses for both trucks.
All of these different types of ag/farm related exemptions are separate from one another. The different deductions/credits just get combined together on your IRS forms at the end of the year.

It depends on where and why you are hauling said equipment.
If you're hauling a deer blind to a place that you own/lease for cattle/hay production, then yes, you could argue that it is a legitimate piece of equipment. If you're hauling it to a piece of property that you lease only for hunting, then no.
It would be fairly difficult, but if you had a large stock tank, you "might" be able to argue a boat would be for ag purposes. If you pull that same boat/trailer to your local public lake, then no.
