    Duck Call Help

Hey guys I have really gotten into duck hunting the past few years but have never called before. I am looking for a call that is easy to use and good to learn on so that I can hopefully get better.

For all those duck hunters out there or any one else who knows anything about calling please help me out with a brand and type of call to use. Thank you for all the help ahead of time.

Hey I'm in Austin too. We need to meet up and ill build you a jerk rig. They work great. I'm new to duck hunting too so I can't help with the calling but might be able to help with the decoy set up.

RNT Original easy to run and once you're good with a call it won't a piece of junk you don't want on your lanyard.

If your new to calling get a double reed to start on, they are easier to blow and learn on. Second, get a calling instructional cd and learn to call. RNT makes a good combo call instructional cd kit. I believe it runs about $60. Lots of good calls out there check out Mack's prairie wings for a great call selection.

a double reed will be easier to learn on.
get a CD and practice while driving, I did that for years.

If you have no calling experience and want something that's hard to mess up on there's probably not a better sounding cheap call out there

Primos makes a good call and you can get a over under that has a whistle on it as well. Priced at about $20 and very easy to use.

Haydel's variable tone red leg double reed.

And don't forget a teal whistle.

Sure Shot 650 cheap and works. Heck I still keep one on my lanyard and blow it all the time.

Keith Allen's instructional cd is what I learned on...I learned on a single reed, so it took me longer, though I feel like it helped me more in the long run...

I would buy a cheap call from Academy or wherever, echo, duck commander, zink...they all make cheaper poly calls instead of acrylic.

Once you learn how to blow a call then you can go to cabelas or anywhere that has "nice" calls and try them out to see what fits your needs best.

dr-85 is a good cheap starting call

i blow RNT's, in fact i carry and mvp, shortbarrel and daisy cutter on my lanyard. All great calls but the shortbarrel is a great upgrade once you can use a call

I duck quite a bit a lot more than I deer hunt. But i try to have a good enough decoy spread to were i dont have to use the call much. I focus on the spread as much as i can. But i do have calls and if i have to use i will, but i mostly use a whistle and very rarely use one that quacks. Do to the facts we dont hunt mallards.
