    As reliable as a Glock...

Last night my at dinner my wife brought up the topic of getting her CHL. We started talking about firearms, and now I need some advice from the GS brain trust. I have carried a Glock for 10 years. Love that gun!!! I would get her one in a heartbeat, except her hands are smaller and they don't fit around the larger grip. I am therefore looking for something as reliable as a glock but with a smaller frame. Would prefer to stay 9mm or larger on caliber. I know revolvers are an option and very reliable so mainly I am looking for input on semi-auto. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'd look into the MP Shield by S and W. They're sweet if you can find them. About the same size as a glock, but slim.

Have you looked into Kahr? They have smaller grips. If you want something entirely reliable can't beat a 38 special Smith & Wesson air weight for CHL.

Smith&Wesson Shield. I love mine and it is a very good shooting gun. Check out James Yeager reviews on youtube.

Take her to a indoor gun range/store, let her fondle all the guns. She will find one that fit's her, then shoot it.

That is the plan. However, I want to have a few specific to try rather than simply walking in and saying "I want to hold everything in the cabinet. "

Take her to gun shop to find one that fits her....my wife likes the Bersa .380 and the LC-9. It more about your wife feels comfortable with and confident in operating, then its just a lot practice to work on accuracy.

Kahr CW9. It is my carry gun, and it fits my wifes hands well. The Rugers might not be bad either, they are pretty compact.

I'd say look at the Kahr's and the Glock "slim frame" models.

I fully understand that the final decision is about what fits her best. I am not trying to pick her gun for her by any means. In the end we need a gun that fits two requirements.

                          1) It fits her hand well
                          2) We both trust it to do its job when it counts.

I am right now trying to build a list of guns that meet requirement #2. Then we will pick from among those that are going to meet requirement number 1.

When she's at the gun store trying out guns (renting and shooting, hopefully), make sure one of them is a Shield.
