And this actually all took place at my parents house. I'm home from school for the weekend so I stayed with them. But they have been planning for years to move out of this neighborhood. My mom's kinda a city girl and Dad has been trying to convince her for years to move out to the country. I think he finally got her to agree that when my younger brother graduates they will move out to the boonies.

Yall have helicopters?
As for the incident, the three loud pops you heard very well might have been gunshots from a drive-by/walk-by shooting. Maybe they had the actor (or thought they did) hemmed up inside of a perimeter.
On the other hand, as glen said, if it is a slow night, you can attract cops from everywhere including the bird and it turned out to be almost nothing. If they were on scene for that long though, I think it is more than a suspicious person or prowler call.
I can't believe that the pd wouldn't tell you what was happening. No details but they could/should have given you very brief info like we are looking for a suspect (don't even have to tell you what for), looking for a lost kid, etc.

I don't know why the lady on the phone wouldn't say what it was about. Maybe she didn't know the details. But I kinda think that may have been because they don't want civilians trying to help and getting in the way (easier to find a suspect when there's not a bunch of ppl out and about).
And since they weren't going door to door to inform ppl I'm assuming that what ever they were looking for wasn't a threat to the general population.
it's just weird. My dad said they had a stolen vehicle dumped in the field behind us before so I guess it coulda been something like that as well. It's just crazy to not know!

Well I talked to my dad who talked to a neighbor who talked to the cops...this may not be real accurate.
Apparently there was a drive by on Morgan's Choice which is about 8 blocks up the road in the same neighborhood. I don't know if anyone was hit but the gunman was found.
If I ever find a newspaper article I'll post it up for ya'll to see.
