I have battery powered white stern lights on a short aluminum pole that drop into a rear rod holder. Got them at Academy.

I picked up a small green lantern from Academy (Coleman Exponent Mini Lantern http://www.coleman.com/product/expon...6#.UaT91yoo5jo). I then stuck it down inside a 2" PVC coupler, next a reducer to 1" then 3 sections of 1" PVC so I can break it down and stow it in my hatch when not in use.

Put reflectors on your vest or your kayak, somewhere visible and keep a small flashlight or mag light so you can flick on in a hurry to notify others of your position if you hear boats nearby.

I saw those lights, but not sure I want to go the route.

You need a 360 degree light that's visible from 2 miles.

                            This one seems pretty good.

The only problem with lights at night from a Kayak, it tends to attract water snakes. I'm just saying!!!!
