Zentners Daughters in Angelo was the very best until I tried these two little hole in tha wall joints one in Stanton Tx and the other in Andrews Tx. Ive had them all over Texas and then some but My pick would be these two places that I cant remember the names. Just know how to get there.

I don't know about numbers two and three on your list but Zentners Daughter is one of my all time favorites!

Best one I've ever eaten out is Babe's Chicken. Tried it at Sanger and Frisco. Homemade though my wife makes the best.

City Hall Cafe. Middle of the pineywoods on Hwy 1791 just outside of Huntsville and only one mile from our hunting lease
Small, family owned cafe/country store frequented by hunters and ranchers.

The best is always home made, but Jacoby's in Melvin Tx is pretty darn good. It's about 20 miles west of Brady. They raise their own beef, their large CFs is so big they have to put the gravy under it on the plate or it will run all over the table. Home made seasoned fries. What I like though is go in for breakfast and you can get a small chicken fried steak, two eggs, hash browns and toast for like 6.99. Even better than their chicken fried steak is the jalapeño and cheese stuffed hamburger steak.

Dahlias cafe in liberty hill has a pretty mean cfs! Good sides and great atmosphere too! Hell! All the food there is excellent!

We've been meaning to try Dahlias for a while now.
May have to break down and do it this week.

New Baden General Store just outside of Franklin has all tou can eat CFS for lunch on Thursday's and it is very good too.

I have eaten a lot of cfs and I don't know if I have found the best, besides what my momma makes, but I have had a lot of darn good ones in different areas of the state.

Where ever the best comes from, Texas Monthly won't know where. Several years ago they said the best CFS in the state was at the Hobo Depot in Liberty Hill. Their CFS were horrible, hardly any meat, all batter. When you tried to cut it the batter would all fall off. The gravy was like water and would only cover about a thrid of the steak. Horrible and Texas Monthy thought it was the best.

The closest I have had a restaurant gravy come to my mom's skillet gravy was on Saturday at Babe's Chicken Dinner House in the Dallas area. That stuff was awesome amd so was everything else there including the chicken.

Went there a couple weeks ago. Good stuff. Had the CFS. Massive and tasty. Id go there just for the sides.
