CCW throws everything out of whack.
I say a nice shotgun or semiautomatic rifle for home defense and you could plink at the ranch with the semi but you can't carry either one of those.
So if you have to have the CCW option then it can be a a variety of handguns.
I like my little 380. But my .40 is nice too.
I think the overall riding thing is... how much do you want to spend on... AMMO and where you gonna get it?
I like to plink with my .22's but am running so low that I've just about quit.
I'd buy where ever I got the best deal.

Best?
You are about to get about 30 "best" guns.
Let's see, for plinking I think of the cheap and fun to shoot rounds rounds (if you can find it) of a .22. For concealed carry I think of mid to small frame handguns but of a more substantial caliber than a .22 like a 9mm, .40 or .45. For home defense there is no need to limit gun size due to no need for concealment.
And you want all three in one gun.... and for around $500?
I would go with a small or mid size striker fire handgun like a Glock, M&P or xD in 9mm. With good hollow points it is very effective for defense, while there is no need to conceal it, it is still good at self defense ranges in a home and the 9mm ammo will be cheaper than the others and sometimes almost half the price of .45.
I would lean toward the mid size for all around and that takes out the M&P since they only have full size and compact and not some mid size handguns like the Glock or xD.
