    Getting desperate.

Been un-employed for about 2 1/2 months now. Got to the point where I'm willing to move anywhere for a good job.
I'm 20 years old trying to get my foot in the door and work my way up with a company. Extremely hard worker have grown up on a ranch all my life doing work around there. I believe a thing that is making it so hard for employment is I got a DWI when I was 18. Dumb decision that I have learned from and no longer drink anymore but it's on my record so it shows up on background checks. I don't have much experience in the working field but I've never been put to a task and was not able to do it or learn it.
If anyone has any ideas for me about a job with a DWI please let me know. Also school is not a option.

I have already posted this on your other threads, but the Permian Basin is loaded with jobs right now, especially for a guy like you, young and willing to work. Oh and I will add the oilfield really doesn't care to much what is on your record.

That's actually what I have been trying to get into been applying as a welder helper and be able to learn from the welder. I have welded before but not enough to say I'm good at it. But like I said I'm a fast learner and delicate my self to everything

I will add that there are so many jobs open down there that my brother got offered a job while waiting in line at the Chick fil a. Fill out tons of applications at every oilfield shop you see, one of them is bound to need the help, also apply to work on pulling units and roustabout crews. Great way to learn about down hole stuff and how the oilfield works and ask lots of questions, and hope one day you can get in the pumping positions.

Hardest part will be finding a place to stay, but once you find one it won't be to long of a hunt and you will have a job.

What he said. IF you are in the Permian basin and can't get a job, you're just flat out lazy... There are plenty of good paying jobs to be had.

I would guess the only way to apply for jobs out there is by staying out there for a week or 2 and applying to as man places as possible,

Heck last summer me and my brother were both hired on same day, and were on the job the next day. And we only applied to 1 other shop before that. He got hired on for a compressor building shop, and I was hired on by an oilfield supply shop, both of us getting 12 dollars an hour to work in a shop all day. If you get on a pulling unit or roustabout you will earn more, and work way more hours.

The Freeport Area is about to eat up over 2000 men for the next four years or so and major companies are claiming that they cant hire craftsman. If you dont know a craft, its a good opportunity to learn one.

Come to Freeport. Its about to get crazy over here!
