Following for sure. Very interested. Would love for my oldest daughter (11) to see enough birds to be successful. Wife would probably really enjoy it, she's never dove hunted.

I am excited guys...this year more acreage planted than ever before..ALL ARE WELCOME...we have room at this time. I had a 3 inch rain awhile back but the ground was so dry and the rain so hard and fast....and it wasnt time to plant the moisture was lacking when the planter arrived at the field. anyhows the forcast was for a wet weekend so I dusted in 4 bags of seed. (twice as much as before) The same two areas of the farm...the big field in the floodway and the 55 acre block. 8 rows planted 8 rows skipped...gentle rain fell the night after we finished planting and germinated all seeds....here we go

Don't forget if you have traditional family plans for labor day & cannot make it, there has not been a 2nd weekend where I have not limited out. Weather and pressure usually run them off in general, but I think mark has mostly local birds that do not migrate?? (my theory) Amazing how well the 2nd weekend has held birds over the years!!
ANYWAY, The first weekend is the one you want be at so we can all rub elbows and the amazing food, labor day for travel, etc, but if you need to get a fix of killing birds or a group hunt...keep the 2nd weekend in mind.
Hope a bunch collards show up this year!!

Hopefully that's correct.
If anyone has better info, please share.
I'd bet you my lunch money that the first weekend of the special season will be the 7th/8th and not Labor Day Weekend. I do not recall a dove season ever opening before September 1st, which is a Sunday this year. Going back on the calendar to 2008 you'll see that the early season was on the 6th/7th not the 30th/31st.
It kills me that they don't just open all seasons designated for a 9/1 start on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, but it's a federal thing and they don't. Screws up Labor Day Weekends every few years.
